Frequently Asked Questions
These are the questions people most commonly ask when they are worried about the outcome of an assessment.
Will I still get a report if I don’t receive an ADHD diagnosis?
Yes. At Lucid ADHD, every assessment produces a comprehensive clinical report. This document covers your full assessment findings, any differential considerations, and personalised recommendations. The report is yours regardless of the outcome.
What if I disagree with the outcome of my assessment?
You are entitled to discuss the findings with your clinician and ask questions. If you feel strongly that the assessment did not capture your full experience, you can seek a second opinion. This is a valid option and is not unusual in adult ADHD assessment.
Can I be reassessed at a later date?
Yes. A non-diagnosis at one point in time does not close the door permanently. ADHD presentations can be complex, and a reassessment after a period of time, or following new information about your history, is possible.
Does a non-diagnosis mean my difficulties are not real?
No. Your difficulties are real regardless of what the assessment concludes. A non-diagnosis means that ADHD was not confirmed as the primary clinical explanation. It does not mean nothing is happening. Your report will document what the assessment did find and guide you toward the right support.
What other conditions could explain ADHD-like symptoms?
Several conditions share features with ADHD, including anxiety disorders, autism spectrum conditions, mood disorders, sleep conditions, and trauma responses. A thorough assessment considers all of these and documents any that are relevant to your presentation.
Can I book an assessment even if I am not sure I have ADHD?
Yes. You do not need to be certain before booking. Many people who seek assessment are unsure. The purpose of the assessment is to find out, not to confirm what you already believe. You can also start with our free 2-minute screening test if you would like a low-pressure first step.
